For
11 years now, Guido Negraszus has been an established figure in instrumental music. With
his newest CD, RAMBLE (2001), he introduced his seventh solo album. The 35-year-old
German-born composer began his music career in 1990 with the highly successful debut CD Blue
Garden which received excellent reviews in both the local and international press.
Supporters and critics alike praised his varied style, superb arrangements and
professionalism.
His following CDs Sun of the South and Crossroads were no less outstanding
and displayed once more the unique Guido Negraszus production style: engaging melodies,
innovative and polished synthesiser arrangements, first-class vibrant rhythms
incorporating acoustic instruments. The sum total of these place him in a kind of no
mans land between New Age, romantic Instrumental music and Electronic Pop, alien to
the traditional category of German electronic music. Despite this, Crossroads was
declared one of the best CDs of the year in a British electronic music magazine. Much of
the success of this unusual production can be attributed to the musical depth and
sensitivity reflected in it. Many radio programmes throughout Europe have
featured the broad range of Guidos music, and his prominent place in WDRs
Schwingungenwahl 1990-93 has left an indelible mark. Negraszus works have also been
included as soundtracks in numerous video and film productions.
Yet the composer
is not one to rest on his laurels and his present music is the vintage maturity of the
youthful promise inherent in his earlier works. His sojourn in Sydney Australia and
Singapore (1993-95) proved the catalyst triggering an intensely creative process that has
been tremendously productive. In particular, his work with many top-calibre musicians has
left its mark
he witnessed firsthand and gained much insight into the world of Jazz,
Blues and Soul. Live music is now one of the passions of his life.
Besides composing,
Guido Negraszus produces as well: with the above-mentioned musicians from Sydney, he
produced a German-Australian collaboration of German composer Claus Bockstandts CD Lumania
in 1994.
Fresh from getting
his training and experience in Sydney as Tonmeister/Masters in Sound Engineering, he
worked as a sound engineer and studio designer on various projects and productions in
Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His time in Southeast Asia led him to make a
significant decision in his life, the impact of which continues even today.
In February 1996, after a 4-year hiatus, The Black Swan, which is the combination
of his creativity in Australia and his new music, was released. For the first time, the
jazz influence acquired during his time in Sydney was heard in his music, and the
reviewers were impressed. Negraszus received overwhelming praise for this exceptional
work.
The composer has meanwhile been back in Germany for one year, and has developed a new
digital studio specially geared to his creative needs. It is in the peace and relaxed
atmosphere of this his sanctuary that MEMORIES & DREAMS came to be. MEMORIES
& DREAMS is an interesting narration of Guido Negraszus travel experiences
in the last few years. It begins with memories of Australia in Vol. 1, to be
followed by vignettes of Southeast Asia in Vol. 2. MEMORIES & DREAMS is
melody, rhythm and harmony in chorus with timeless sounds
it is a travel through
time, an alluring composition of experiences and dreams, or a soundtrack for a film of
imagination.
Since July
2001 Guido and his wife Serene are living in Perth, Western Australia. |
